Ortaköy Kültür Merkezi

The Ortaköy culture center run by Beşiktaş Municipality brings together a theater, museum, exhibition space and education areas under one roof on Dereboyu Street. Under its roof are the 169-seat Afife Jale Stage as well as the Livaneli Museum, an exhibition area, a library, classrooms and a cafeteria. The stage hosts theater, concerts, talks and children's shows. Because the hall seats only 169 people, the audience sits close to the stage; even from the back rows, the performers' faces are clearly visible. Red-upholstered seats are arranged facing the stage, which has a curtain in a classic layout. This scale offers a comfortable setting for families with young children. It is also possible to wait in the foyer before the show or visit the museum in the same building. There is no metro line serving Ortaköy. The 40 and 40T buses departing from Taksim, the Ortaköy–Taksim dolmuş minibuses, and buses coming from the direction of Beşiktaş and Kabataş are the most convenient options. The center is a few minutes' walk from Ortaköy Square and its mosque, so after the performance it is easy to stroll along the Bosphorus shore or sit at a café in the square.
