House of Performance - HoP

Avşar Cinema, the former cinema in Zeytinlik Neighborhood of Bakırköy, has been open to performing arts since April 26, 2023, under the name House of Performance, or HoP for short, with its renovated halls. The building has two Italian-style stages and a black box; the main hall seats 450 and the lower hall seats 106. Theatre plays, musicals, stand-up shows, children's plays and workshops form the core of the program. In the main hall, the seats are arranged in tiers. The stage, 14.5 meters wide, 7.5 meters deep and 5 meters high, can also accommodate large-cast musicals. Robotic lighting fixtures and 36 dimmer circuits are used for lighting, and a Yamaha M7 mixer for sound. With its red upholstered seats and red curtain, the lower hall's stage is 7 meters wide and 4.5 meters deep; the distance between performers and audience is even shorter here. A separate program called HoP Children's Theatre is run for children. Those arriving by the Halkalı–Gebze Marmaray line get off at Bakırköy station and reach the venue after a walk of about 250 meters, taking a few minutes. Zeytinlik is one of the neighborhoods in central Bakırköy. Since the bazaar, cafés and dining spots are within a short walking distance, there are plenty of options before or after the show.
