Barış Manço Kültür Merkezi (BMKM)

Barış Manço Cultural Center, the first cultural center of Kadıköy Municipality, has been serving at Nail Bey Street in Caferağa Neighborhood since 1998. Its 141-seat event hall hosts adult and children's theater, stand-up shows, concerts, talks, and film screenings. In the same building, the Cervantes Institute Istanbul Branch also offers Spanish courses. Because the red-seated hall is small, the distance between the stage and the audience is short; during children's plays, the little spectators can see the performers up close. The three workshop areas in the building are used by more than fifty groups, including choir, dance, instrumental music, and literature. The BMKM Theater House project, which started in 2011, offers free theater training to young people and adults, so there is constant activity in the building throughout the day. The center is on Nail Bey Street, which connects to Moda Street, right next to the Caferağa Sports Hall. The Bahariye stop of the Kadıköy-Moda nostalgic tram is about 250 meters away, the ferry pier is 350 meters, and the Kadıköy station of the M4 line is about 500 meters away; all of them can be reached with a walk of a few minutes. For before or after the show, the cafés and restaurants of Bahariye and Moda are right nearby.
