Atatürk Kültür Merkezi (AKM)

The Theatre Hall, located on the ground floor of the Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM) in Taksim Square, is accessed from the entrance on Kültür Sokağı. AKM, which operates under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, reopened in its renovated building on 29 October 2021. The hall's programme is mainly theatre plays; concerts and dance performances also take place on this stage. The hall, which seats about 780 people, has two-thirds of its seats in the stalls and the rest in the balcony. The main stage, 27 metres wide and 16 metres deep, comfortably accommodates productions with large casts and elaborate sets. The hall has its own foyer; six entrance doors across two floors make it easier for audiences to move before the show and on exit without crowding. The building also houses the AKM Children's Arts Center, which is aimed at children aged 4 to 6. The Taksim station of the M2 metro line is about 160 metres from the hall, directly across from the square. Those coming from Kabataş can reach the square in a few minutes by the F1 Kabataş-Taksim funicular. For visitors arriving by car, there is a paid AKM car park next to the Atatürk Library, at Miralay Şefik Bey Sokağı No:19. The cafés and restaurants inside the building mean there is no need to leave for a bite to eat before the show.
